FEDERAL PROGRAMS COMPLIANCE, CODE ENFORCEMENT
The City is required to comply with and/or promote many Federal programs to assure equal opportunities and fair treatment for all of its citizens. Additionally, the City has adopted ordinances to protect the health, safety and general welfare of those who live in Corinth, or who choose Corinth as a place to establish and conduct their businesses. Most ordinances falling under the responsibility of the code enforcement officer involve the maintenance of properties and involve control of plant growth, the number and types of animals allowed on a property, junked vehicles, land use, and control of debris. Other areas of responsibility include enforcement of the sign ordinance and street lighting issues. Questions and concerns in this area should be directed to the code enforcement officer.
BUILDING OFFICIAL, BUILDING INSPECTOR
The City has adopted building codes to protect the health, safety and welfare of those who live in, work in, or visit our community. The City is a member of the International Building Codes Council and has adopted the 2006 International Building Code and 2006 International Residential Code along with several other codes that help ensure safer structures. Construction projects that are started without a permit may be subject to penalties and/or the removal of work that has already been completed. All persons considering construction or remodeling projects should contact the building inspector to find out whether or not a permit will be required for their project and what restrictions they might have to comply with.
